We salute the second president of the United States, John Adams. It is well known that Mr Adams was an unwavering patriot, but did you know he was also a defender of justice, even when the matter was unpopular. Following the Boston Massacre, there was no one to defend the accused British soldiers. It was John Adams who stepped up to make sure the soldiers received a fair trial. We are thankful Mr Adams valued justice over popularity.
We are proud of the work of Blue Grey Army in organizing the Olustee Festival. 2017 is another outstanding year. Tonight, the iron clads battled it out in Lake Desoto.
The Wheeler Agency sponsored Pinewood Derby car is fine tuned and ready to compete. Pack 85 Derby is at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday February 25th. Ya’ll come. Businesses are invited to enter the race in the corporate heat.

Do you know where the nearest fire station to your home is located? We commend the Columbia County Fire Department for providing a very cool search tool to find the nearest station and hydrant from any address in Columbia County. While we know most of you do not think about fire protection on a daily basis, it is something we should all think about from time to time. The closer a fire station is to your home, the quicker the response time in case of a fire. You may also want to double check your homeowner insurance policy. If you are within 1,000 feet to the nearest hydrant, you may qualify for a discount with your insurance company. If your insurance policy shows protection class 3, 4 or 5, you are already receiving the discounted rate.
