Lightning damage is covered

The storm that raged over Columbia County late Monday night might safely be considered an epic lightning event.  Few Columbia County-ans slept as lightning struck minute by minute throughout the night.   As expected, we have received numerous lightning claims in our office over the last two days.  Lightning is a “covered peril” under most property insurance policies, even basic peril policies.

We want to alert you to a little known provision of the Homeowner (HO-3) coverage form.  Did you know that there is coverage for trees damaged by lightning?  In fact, up to $500 is available per any one tree, shrub, plant or lawn located at your residence premises when damaged by lightning, fire, vandalism, theft and a few other perils.   Tree damage from windstorm, however, is not covered.

We are celebrating Children’s Day by giving away balloons at Memorial Stadium. Thankfully the weather held, and the kids had fun.  We want to thank Early Learning Coalition for inviting us. 

We salute Lake City’s Get Smart Robotics Team for earning a trip to the First Robotics World Championship in Houston, Texas. We believe in you Get Smart. 

Our team had a good time competing at the Garden Club’s Scrabble Tournament last night.  While we did not come away with the trophy, we enjoyed the fellowship with other teams from the community. The Garden Club is raising funds to restore the historic club house on Hernando Avenue. 

We Passed the Agents Exam!

We are pleased to congratulate Toni Sweat and Susie Shedron (left to right) for passing the Florida insurance agents exam.  It is our understanding, the Florida exam is one of the toughest in the nation.  We are proud of their effort to gain professional knowledge so they can serve their customers with excellence.  Susie is now is a licensed Personal Lines Agent who helps our customers with their home, cars, flood insurance, boats and recreational vehicles.  Toni is a licensed General Lines Agent who helps our business customers with general liability, commercial property and workers compensation.   Please feel free to call our office and congratulate them:  (386) 752-8660.
