We have become a relaxed society, sometimes, too relaxed. We wear shorts and flip-flops to church and PJs to the shopping center, but there are times when we need to show respect and be at our best. We are thrilled that Fire Chief Josh Wehinger has challenged his fire company to establish an honor guard. We need them to lead our parades, honor fallen first responders, and present our national colors on Veterans Day and Memorial Day events. Led by Dustin Alford, the Lake City Honor Guard are self-funded volunteers from the Lake City Fire Department. The honor guard deserves our support. We hope to see them often at important events, for years to come, where respect and honor are treasured.
